So many people are scared to say something wrong in an interview.
They repeat the same frameworks. The same STAR answers. The same exact thing every other candidate says.
Why?
Because a thousand years ago, saying the wrong thing could get you kicked out of the clan.
You’d be left to fend for yourself.
Which basically meant getting fed to the mountain lions.
Here’s the thing:
That fear is biological. There’s something primal in all of us that wants to fit in and be accepted, because back then, not fitting in really could cost you your life.
It was a survival mechanism.
But it doesn’t apply to hunting for a job.
These days it’s a cushy, air-conditioned, white-collar job.
The worst that happens when you say something that stands out? You get “canceled.” And if you’re not famous with thousands of followers, nobody’s even watching.
The truth is this:
Saying something a little out there, a little bold, will do nothing but help your career.
It’s what gets exceptional people hired.
It’s what gets them promoted.
And it’s the same courage that lets people start businesses and achieve great things.
