When I left Ukraine in 2022, I made one change to my company that I still think about.
Back then, if you said “outsourcing,” people pictured India or the Philippines. That was the whole market. That’s who everyone hired from, and that’s who everyone compared you to.
But after the invasion, the whole world was watching Ukraine. People felt a lot of empathy for Ukrainians. So I changed the company name, and I changed a big chunk of our positioning to say one thing:
Ukrainian talent is the best in the world.
That’s it.
Same company. Same team. Same service. Different name and a different story about who we were.
And people really resonated with it.
I just recorded a YouTube video about this, so I sat down and actually ran the numbers. I can attribute at least $4 million of the company’s revenue to that one change.
Not a small amount, obviously.
Here’s why I’m telling you this.
Sometimes a job hunt really is that easy. Not always, but more often than people think. Most job seekers assume they need another certification, another 200 applications or another year of experience before anything changes. So they grind harder at the same thing and wonder why the results don’t move.
A lot of the time it isn’t about doing anything hard. It’s about your past experience and how people see it. One very small tweak to how you position yourself can get you more offers, better offers, or pretty much whatever you’re going after.
Same you. Same experience. Different light.
That’s what we do at Unfair Careers. Whether it’s rewriting your CV or your LinkedIn, or reworking how you come across in an interview, our three-step system (Unfair Positioning, Unfair System and Unfair Interviews) makes sure you’re positioned properly in today’s job market.
