When I’m in focus mode, I do the same thing over and over.
My wife chuckles at me about this constantly.
For a whole month I’ll eat nothing but lean ground beef with a little avocado and hot sauce on it for lunch. Then I’ll switch, and it’s ham and cheese sandwiches for the next month.
Breakfast doesn’t change either.
Most days I skip it, but when I do eat, it’s scrambled eggs. Lately I’ve been adding chorizo, since I live in the south of Europe and it’s famous for the stuff. Dinner is my wife’s domain, so I just eat whatever shows up.
Clothes are the same story.
Same t-shirt most days. Same pair of shorts. A while back I told you about a pair of Nikes I liked so much that I bought ten of them. They sat in the closet, and every time one pair wore out, the next pair came in.
That’s how I live.
And it’s not because I’m lazy or boring. Keeping the small stuff simple frees up my head for the stuff that matters. Day after day, it lets me get more and more done.
The same logic works in a job hunt.
Scan the same job boards every day. Apply to similar roles. Use the same core resume that shows off everything you’ve actually done, as long as it’s positioned properly. Do the same boring, repeatable actions every single day.
In my experience, that’s wildly effective at getting you where you need to go.
But here’s the twist.
Being boring on your resume is one of the worst things you can do.
In today’s world of AI slop, everyone is a dynamic, fast-paced professional who thrives in cross-functional environments.
It doesn’t actually mean anything.
If you don’t want your resume to be the same boring plate of ground beef and avocado I eat every day, and you want to land the job you deserve, you have to stand out.
Unfortunately, that’s where a lot of people get lost.
At Unfair Careers, we have a specific step-by-step process to rewrite your resume so it shows exactly what you’ve achieved and positions you as the best fit for the roles you’re going after.
Just know there are only three slots left this month for the exclusive CV and LinkedIn rewrite.
